Overview

After years of working on side projects individually, a coffee-shop brainstorming session with fellow designers sparked the idea for a small business. Built on a shared belief that great design should be accessible, we set out to provide high-quality branding, websites, and marketing support to small businesses. Our mission is rooted in the idea that design is more than visuals—it’s a tool for helping businesses connect meaningfully with the people who matter most.

Problem

How do we create a clean, professional design agency that avoids feeling overly edgy, clearly showcases our design capabilities, and delivers an intuitive user experience—while quickly communicating what we offer and how we can help potential clients?

Analysis and Planning

We began by researching small design agencies both locally and nationally to understand positioning, tone, and user expectations within the market. From there, we defined our mission and vision and developed a cohesive brand identity—including our name, logo, and visual system—to establish a clear and consistent foundation for how we would present ourselves to the community.

The name Arc reflects multiple influences: our shared experience working in the energy industry, the idea of a launch point with purpose and momentum, and a mutual love of basketball. With this groundwork in place, we were able to move confidently into designing a digital presence that aligned with our values, audience, and long-term goals.

Design Phase

Following initial wireframes and design reviews, we developed a custom design that authentically reflected our brand and design philosophy. From the start, we prioritized clear customer information and calls to action, no unnecessary friction or distractions.

The site was also an opportunity to showcase both design and front-end development skills. I built a custom grid-based background that subtly responds to cursor movement on desktop and transitions into a smooth ambient animation on mobile. Visually, we introduced custom UI elements within our color palette and layered glass-style panels that reveal a darker depth on hover. Minimal scrolling and restrained motion effects were used throughout to maintain focus and create a clean, intuitive experience.

Solution and Results

After several months of brand development and website design, we launched in November 2025 to a strong initial reception and began onboarding clients immediately. The new brand and digital presence provided a professional foundation that allowed us to push our creative boundaries while offering clients the confidence of working with an established business.

The site now serves as both a client acquisition tool and a platform for continued growth. Moving forward, we plan to expand its UX and functionality through features such as a dark mode toggle, an educational vlog, and an evolving portfolio that showcases our work and process.
